Welcome to Caedmon Tutorials!
Please be adviced that Caedmon Tutorials will NOT be offering any courses for the 2011-2012 school year. Kindly check back in the future! Thank you.
The tutorials offered through this service are intended for self-motivated high-school students who are home-tutored or for adults who have an appreciation for literature and desire a group-learning environment for personal enrichment. Although the tutorials focus on developing critical thinking skills, they are also aimed at fostering a love for reading, writing and talking about great works of literature. While respecting the particular cultures and backgrounds of the authors, the tutorials provide a Christian approach to engaging with texts in their contexts.
The following courses are offered:
- Full-year survey course in Medieval Literature: "The Birth of English Literature From Caedmon to King Arthur"
- Full-year reading & writing course : "Under the Lampost" (NOW YOU CAN VIEW THE NEW COURSE TRAILER ON THE COURSE PAGE!!)
Coures are offered on Tuesdays.
Reading and Writing: 2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m.
Medieval Literature: 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m.
Please follow the links above or click on the course pages in the side bar for more information on individual tutorials.
Tutorials are conducted live during a two-hour session offered once a week. A typical course consists of weekly readings, homework assignments, essays (or other writing assignments), class discussions, blogging, and periodic tests. In order to successfully complete the tutorials, students require a reliable, up-to-date computer with speakers and a microphone. A high-speed internet connection or satellite connection is essential. Unfortunately, a dial-up connection will not provide the reliability necessary to allow students to attend and fully participate in the virtual classroom.
